Bunnies, bunnies, bunnies, bunnies.
Ok, I had to get that out there.
I am part of a collective that has been producing a community based culture jam event in San Francisco on Easter Eve.
And yes, we're a theme party with the theme of bunnies. And we're one of those theme parties that takes our theme and shoves it so far down people's throats, they're pooping our theme out for weeks.
It's all about bunnies, easter, spring, and all the sugar coated cultural references that go along with it (this year, St. Patricks day is the same weekend as Easter, so we've added that as or sub-theme).
In keeping with our theme, we are seeking out new and original content.
Audio: Performance and music based artists that explore culture jamming. (And while we do love normal dj dance music like house and trance, it's not what we're going for. We'd much rather have people say "wft????" than "aw, that's some funky beats I can dance too". Although, if you can combine it into "wtf??? This music is so weird, but yet, I can not stop dancing!", then you score an A+)
Visual: We are lacking on floor space this year. Our venue does not have any big open areas, but instead has lots of little nooks and crannies (we're more of a warren/cave like space than a big warehouse space). A big installation that would take up a 20' x 20' space, not gonna work. The type of thing that would work at the end of a hallway, and becomes a hidden discovery that people will remember for years to come, that will work. Interactive, performance, wall hanging art with a bunny theme, we love you!
If you think you might be the type of artist who creates content that would fit our vision, please email me (sfaaron26@yahoo.com) so we can talk further, or send me a message here on tribe.

Re: Call for art/music in San Francisco: Themed art for bunny party
Thu, February 14, 2008 - 10:24 AMThought i'd mention some previous acts that have worked out great, so bunnies can have some ideas.
Performance Art:
Dr. Frankenpeep: Armed with a microwave, blow torch, and a box of peeps, Dr. Frankenpeep performs all kinds of whacky experiments on the peeps to see just how much abuse they can take.
Sandwich Bunny: Hidden inside an egg-shapped trailer, this white trash bunny (pregnant with a bunny in the oven), spread chocolate all over her smooth legs, used alphabits on the chocolate to spell out obscene words and allowed a few chosen bunnies to eat the chocolate covered cereal off her legs.
The Evolution Carrot Committee's Pluph-In: Will full cartoon set props, the ECC performed a very bunnified spoof of Laugh-In.
Music: Yes we need music, we even need dj's. But we have no interest in house music, techno music, or thumpin dance music. The other 364 days of the year, and at every other club in the city that night, you can hear some great electronic music.
But if you're able to get a dance floor pumping to polka played at 300bpm's, or to a mash-up of the Cedarmont Children and Veggie Tales, or a Hip-Hop Nerdcore version of White Rabbit, an original real-time beat box with samples from a toy piano and a kazoo, well... We must talk.
Sets: We're a very set intensive event. Giant flowers that hover over a crowd. A giant day-glow sculpture of a Bunny-Buddha. A full indoor garden. Giant carrots hanging from a ceiling. A giant easter egg that's crashed down from the sky and allows bunnies to crawl in and explore an immersive visual and audio environment. A giant bunny plushie hacked together with a Theramin. We need your ideas. In particular this year, our challenge is that we don't have much floor space. Think of a bunny warren. Lots of tunnels and spaces to wander and explore, as opposed to a huge open warehouse space.
