Inspired production of GODSPELL (music by Stephen Schwartz.) GODSPELL
is based primarily on the gospel of Matthew and is performed by a cast
of actor/clowns who make their way through the songs, as we, the
audience members, get to see the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly
and spiritually to life.

Performance will be on Thursday September 3rd @ Spanky's Village on
the Esplenade at sunset.

Rehearsals will be held throughout the month of August in Los Angeles.

a few months ago I saw that one of the high schools was putting on the play Harvey.
The movie Harvey was with Jimmy Stewart who had an imaginary man sized rabbit

That's right. You heard it. We've been challenged to a duel. Not to the death, but you never know, those clowns have been known to tickle people to death.

Anyways, it will be held as part of the Burning Man BBQ a newbie event. A great time for old school burners to hang out, get some nibbles from the playa-q, and to let all the newbies know that bunnies do it better than the clowns. At least when it comes to kickball.

The picnic is Saturday, June 14th, 11am to 4pm in Lindley Meadow in Golden Gate Park.

I will post more details as they become available.

The web site for this year is now up and live. Info on the date, location, artwork is all there for your viewing pleasure. Original artwork on the site was created by Karrot Lewis, who's also putting together some wild crazy performance (leg lopping) and also going to be singing her original "bunny bunny jam jam" theme song (played many times at BJ, but never performed live).

Lots of new stuff this year, should be a bunny of a time.

Volunteers for bunny jam

Due to a problem with the internet (damn peeps, always getting stuck in the keyboard). Our email address we set up to recruit volunteers (peeps@bunnyjam.com) has been sending messages to it off into the ethernet, never to be seen again (or some day when we do a bunch of ether and kick back).

In the meantime, this means our attempt to get helpers to help set up our most elaborate themed art party, all full of so much original and salvaged art, hasn't been going so good.

So if you have some free time on Saturday, want to get into the jam for free, and want to hang out with some super-duper fun artsy bunny types, send me an email. I will send it directly to the correct person heading our volunteer effort. sfaaron26@yahoo.com

Music at Bunny Jam

Neon, I know you're looking for eclectic music but I just have to put in a word for some music that bunnies can actually hop to.

Let me say that Bunny Jam is my all-time favorite event and I love the energy and silliness. I love the insane Easter decorations, costumes and the franken-peeps. I even love the bunny bands and the silly acts.

But, after hours and hours of the silly music, my energy gets drained because I'm not dancing. Bunnies stand around and talk and then leave. I'm all dressed up in my most fabulous fur with nothing that I can hop around to. Please consider having some danceable music mixed in too.

It doesn't even have to be thumpa-thumpa (Even though thumper loves that.) A couple of years ago, Jovino Dee-jayed at a Further Confusion party and played CAKE's "Sheep Go to Heaven, Goats Go to Hell." I loved that. Maybe we can find some rockin' bunny songs like that?

Call for art/music in San Francisco: Themed art for bunny party

Bunnies, bunnies, bunnies, bunnies.

Ok, I had to get that out there.

I am part of a collective that has been producing a community based culture jam event in San Francisco on Easter Eve.

And yes, we're a theme party with the theme of bunnies. And we're one of those theme parties that takes our theme and shoves it so far down people's throats, they're pooping our theme out for weeks.

It's all about bunnies, easter, spring, and all the sugar coated cultural references that go along with it (this year, St. Patricks day is the same weekend as Easter, so we've added that as or sub-theme).

In keeping with our theme, we are seeking out new and original content.

Audio: Performance and music based artists that explore culture jamming. (And while we do love normal dj dance music like house and trance, it's not what we're going for. We'd much rather have people say "wft????" than "aw, that's some funky beats I can dance too". Although, if you can combine it into "wtf??? This music is so weird, but yet, I can not stop dancing!", then you score an A+)

Visual: We are lacking on floor space this year. Our venue does not have any big open areas, but instead has lots of little nooks and crannies (we're more of a warren/cave like space than a big warehouse space). A big installation that would take up a 20' x 20' space, not gonna work. The type of thing that would work at the end of a hallway, and becomes a hidden discovery that people will remember for years to come, that will work. Interactive, performance, wall hanging art with a bunny theme, we love you!

furry convention in San Jose this weekend (Jan 25 - 27)

Further Confusion (furtherconfusion.org/) is coming! The convention actually spans Thursday through Monday, but the weekends are always best. It takes place at the San Jose Doubletree Hotel, right off the 101 freeway.

Bunny project: Project 365. There is no holiday hero but the Easter Bunny.

As many of you might already be aware of, there is currently a movement among the humans to worship a large fat man who is known for wearing lots of red. This human has been known to bribe young humans with gifts and toys in order to buy their allegiance.

On December 15th, in cities across the country, worshipers of the large fat man will decend and bring to those cities the chaos that is sometimes known as Santarchy!

A contingent of bunnies in San Francisco is already gathering their forces. During this bizarre celebration of obesity, bunnies will attempt to infiltrate this march with our own Billion Bunny March!

That is right. Don your ears, slap on your cotton tail, and on December 15th, join us as we descend among Santa's nation wide. If you have extra bunny ears, bring them so that we can attempt to bunnify a few of these Santas.

Billion Bunnies on da Playa

Once again, many of us bunnies will be going to Bunny Man at the end of August.

And once again, we will arise and show the world the Bunny Way!

Last year, we managed to take over the Black Rock Radio, Center Camp Cafe, and then we turned the Man into a Bunny!!!

So how do we top that? What do we do this year? We are a collective of bunnies, and always try and bring collective ideas to our collective bunny happenings. So please, spit out some ideas! I will spread them among the bunnies I know who are not so tribe-savy.

How BUNNY Can You Be Parade - Berkeley, Sunday, September 30

It's that time of year BUNNIES. Time when we dust the playa off our little cotton tails and take to the streets in protest of humanity! Once again, we have a spot in the How Berkeley Can You Be Parade ( http://www.howberkeleycanyoube.com/ ). A fun, silly, whimsikle celebration of all things foolish. We've done this for a couple of years now, and had a blast with it.

It's a morning thing. So if you're looking for a BUNNY event where you can bring your whole family (grandparents and children included), then this is the one.

It is THIS SUNDAY and we should be in place by 10:30am to march at 11am. It goes quickly and we are usually done by 11:30am, then meet for a picnic in the park after.

- We have a few protest signs I saved...could use more fun and positive ones if you want to make and bring your own.

- Bring an Easter basket with toys or candy (in packages...not loose) to hand out. It was fun to hand out candy and goodies to kids in our Easter baskets. I will get some of that, but everyBUNNY should bring goodies to hand out. (not X-rated if to kids).

- It was helpful last year to bring extra ears and some make-up to bunnify last minute conversions. Anyone have any extra ears? Also make great handouts to give to kids (we must begin our BUNNY conversions with those of a young age) along the parade route. Don't have a bunny outfit but still want to join us for the parade? Well, show up and you will be bunnified.

What BUNNIES are in? Sound off and indicate if you have specific plans for how you will participate (not required, but always an option).

INVITE MORE BUNNIES and let me know how many to expect so I can plan enough food and beverages.

Dear How Berkeley Parade Participants,

Can you believe we are only 5 days away from the event? I hope you are all as excited as we are. The production team is working around the clock to make this the best year ever!! Below and attached is the final line up for the parade which includes your starting address. Please locate your group and let me know if you are listed correctly. If you do not find your group on the list, please let me know asap and I will make sure to get you in the lineup.

The parade begins at 11am sharp, please arrive as early as you need to in order to be ready to go at 11am. There will be several parade monitors on site from 9am on. They will be wearing bright red “Staff” t-shirts and radios. Some will even have on traffic vests. If you have trouble finding your address when you arrive, please look for one of the monitors for assistance.

There are some new rules for the parade this year as per the City of Berkeley. It is very important that we all abide by these rules...otherwise we have been informed that the event will no longer be permitted in Berkeley :(

That said, please make sure everyone in your group is aware of the following:

* Cut out to keep the repost short. Basically, no fire, and tighter restrictions on vehicles in the parade.

This year the parade monitors will be walking along with the parade in order to keep it moving at a nice pace. If you see that your group is walking faster than a parade monitor PLEASE slow down. Many spectators have complained that the parade goes by too quickly and they ALL want to see you. So, keep your eyes on the monitors.

If you have any questions before the event, feel free to email or call me anytime. If you have concerns during the event, please speak to one of the parade monitors or ask them to call for me on the radio.

Oscar the cat predicts patients' deaths

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.

"He doesn't make too many mistakes. He seems to understand when patients are about to die," said Dr. David Dosa in an interview. He describes the phenomenon in a poignant essay in Thursday's issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

"Many family members take some solace from it. They appreciate the companionship that the cat provides for their dying loved one," said Dosa, a geriatrician and assistant professor of medicine at Brown University.

The 2-year-old feline was adopted as a kitten and grew up in a third-floor dementia unit at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The facility treats people with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease and other illnesses.

After about six months, the staff noticed Oscar would make his own rounds, just like the doctors and nurses. He'd sniff and observe patients, then sit beside people who would wind up dying in a few hours.

Dosa said Oscar seems to take his work seriously and is generally aloof. "This is not a cat that's friendly to people," he said.

Oscar is better at predicting death than the people who work there, said Dr. Joan Teno of Brown University, who treats patients at the nursing home and is an expert on care for the terminally ill

She was convinced of Oscar's talent when he made his 13th correct call. While observing one patient, Teno said she noticed the woman wasn't eating, was breathing with difficulty and that her legs had a bluish tinge, signs that often mean death is near.

Oscar wouldn't stay inside the room though, so Teno thought his streak was broken. Instead, it turned out the doctor's prediction was roughly 10 hours too early. Sure enough, during the patient's final two hours, nurses told Teno that Oscar joined the woman at her bedside.

Doctors say most of the people who get a visit from the sweet-faced, gray-and-white cat are so ill they probably don't know he's there, so patients aren't aware he's a harbinger of death. Most families are grateful for the advanced warning, although one wanted Oscar out of the room while a family member died. When Oscar is put outside, he paces and meows his displeasure.

No one's certain if Oscar's behavior is scientifically significant or points to a cause. Teno wonders if the cat notices telltale scents or reads something into the behavior of the nurses who raised him.

Nicholas Dodman, who directs an animal behavioral clinic at the Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and has read Dosa's article, said the only way to know is to carefully document how Oscar divides his time between the living and dying.

If Oscar really is a furry grim reaper, it's also possible his behavior could be driven by self-centered pleasures like a heated blanket placed on a dying person, Dodman said.

Nursing home staffers aren't concerned with explaining Oscar, so long as he gives families a better chance at saying goodbye to the dying.

Oscar recently received a wall plaque publicly commending his "compassionate hospice care."

In keeping with the "Green" theme, we are creating a paradise in the middle of the desert, inspired by lush Havana of days gone by. So, break out your leisure suit or bunny ears, saunter in like James Bond, Michael Corleone, or one of the Rat Packers, take a seat at the cigar bar, roulette table, or poker pit, and enjoy the show featuring salsa, burlesque, and more. In addition to the show, music ranges the gamut from the Buena Vista Social Club, Bebel Gilberto, even Hooverphonic. Guest DJ's will be spinning everything from theme music to whatever fits the vibe.

On Wednesday night, our theme involves many many bunnies, so please join us for "A Tribute to Hef." The more bunnies the better! To be fair, on Tuesday night we're having a Ladies Night, more details to follow for Ladies Night.

Sunday night, I will be playing music in between bands.

But Saturday night, I get to go and have fun and dance and enjoy! Might wear one of my non-bunny fursuits on Sunday, maybe the Fox or Mouse. But Saturday night, let's show San Francisco that there really is only one type of animal worth worshipping: THE BUNNIES!!!!!

Would be great to have some bunnies show up in force, showing San Francisco that we're so much cooler than Monkeys, Clowns, Bears, Zombies, Pirates or Ninjas.

Bunny Jam 7 missing fotobooth photo request

Hey wabbits,
I just woke up after getting down at BJ #7 and I just wanted to put a request out there:

during the course of the night Nati Bunny and I got some pictures in the photobooth and then promptly lost them.
We stayed till the lights went on and then found the strip near the booth. The kicker was, that it was missing one
of the photos near the top.

The photo: Me long black hare, goatee, glasses that are handshaped, carrot in mouth. Nati B has glasses, brown hare
and smoking a carrot.

It was the best photo out of the batch, and if anyone has it we would love to get a copy and Ideally enlarge it electronically.
In bunny solidarity, we ain't the angry type, we just want a copy. you can keep the original, and I will buy a couple rounds of
drinks for my peoples that put me back into contact with the photo or whoever gots it. I'm on spring break this week and I will make time to
do an afternoon liquid lunch or what not.

Starting point: The Fountain in Dupont Circle

The Plan: We slowly gather around the fountain and begin to work
ourselves into a bunny-rific frenzy. Feel free to hump each other.
Promptly at 8:30, we begin our Hop of Horror...down to The Big Hunt.
If you are running late, call a friend who is already hopping to get
our location or use this very rough schedule...

It's that time of year, bunnies- Ye Olde Bunny Jam is almost upon us! This year's Theme: The HARE-itics Ball.

I'm signing people up for 2-hour shifts at Auto da Fur, the bunnification and re-education station. Duties are: human catching, face-painting, ear positioning, and spreading the spirit of bunny love. Of course bunnifiers get in for free, but more
importantly they play a crucial role in spreading bunny love and getting newbies revved for the event.

I have 2 shifts available- 10 to 12 and 12 to 2. In addition, I'm looking for someone to help make a sign "Auto da Fur: repent, humans, repent!" Or something like that.

If you have no make-up experience, never fear! We will train you in the basic bunny faces. Post a response to this blog or send me a message if you're interested. Next week I'll post to the bunny tribe to recruit volunteers for any remaining slots.

this year, we have a wonderful awesome space with all kinds of great thematic magic (think castle, think barn, think medieval, think naughty).

we hope to do something a little different, and invite bunnies who want to do some sort of interactive installation. we have an area we hope to do for this, which itself is broken into different areas, a bunch of them smaller (think stable stalls), and some bigger. and we want you - yes, you bunny - to do something cool for that space.

there is sound bleed into this area from the main room, so anything involving silence or your own sound system may not work. same with light bleed for projections. (we might be able to work out another space if your idea is just that cool)

be creative. be far out. the only concept is that it be more bunny than anybunny.

looking for a home for bunny jam 07

so this year, we are starting early with our search for a home for our annual easter eve bunny event, bunny jam ( http://www.bunnyjam.com ).

and we are looking for a place to host it. looking for suggestions and offers.

our ideal venue (we are flexible though):

can hold 500+ bunnies without being shut down by the cops.
is in SF
somewhat ok neighborhood (ie. soma: good, hunters point: bad)
would allow us to set up a day or two in advance, break down a day or two after
can sell or allow us to sell alcohol (we can obtain a temporary liquor license from the city if needed.)
would have an indoor as well as outdoor area
would have at least 2 areas with seperate sound isolation.
available on Easter weekend, 2007
affordable (if you've been to bunny jam, you know we spend alot of $ on set designs, props, and art, and hope to keep it that way and not have to charge the heck out of our bunnies because we are being charged the heck out of by a venue.)
we'd prefer an alternative venue to a nightclub environment, but are open to suggestions (we bring all of our own bunnies, and don't need or want an established venue with it's own established crowd of non-bunnies)

help us out! make suggestions here, and if you have contact info for anyone who manages/owns/runs a venue, send me a private im, and I will forward it on to the bunnies who make the decisions, and yet are not on tribe.net! hoping to make a decision sometime this year, rather than waiting till the last minute!

The billion bunny march on the playa was a great success. We have recruited many bunnies, and furthered our cause of replacing humanity with the Leporidae species, allied with the hares and pikas in the order Lagomorpha.

My last count, I counted 999,999,999 bunnies in our march. This means we only need one more bunny to make a Billion!

Billion Bunny March on the Playa

Eat plenty of carrots, you will need the energy for burning man. Once again, we will be gathering on the playa for the billion bunny march. Last year, we were 1 bunny short of a billion (to think we had only 999,999,999 bunnies). If you make it this year, we will be one billion strong!

Last year, we noticed some pesky carrots who think we are a bigger problem than the humans. Not so! Maybe the dirt will show up this year to protest the carrots!

So come join us as we protest all of humanity, and demand the event be changed to "Bunny Man" once and for all. Bunnification will happen before the march. We also invite all mobile performers (marching bands, dancers, street theater, etc) to come and join us along our march and help us be as whacky as a bunny march can be!

The camp hosting it this year is "Fur and Loathing". They are located on A street and outer circle.

Gather from 4-6 at Billion Bunnies Fur & Loafing Camp, to bunnify and prepare over cocktails. At 6pm, we march to the Cafe to read our Bunnifesto! Then march out to the Man to protest humanity and bunnify the world! Afterparty at Billion Bunnies Camp with libations and bunny music!

Bunny Love needed at 18th & Castro

18th and Castro has been in need of some extra love and joy on recent Friday nights. For a couple of months now an ex-Gay ministry has been hanging out in front of the BofA from 8:30-11:30 each Friday night singing and expressing a message of guilt and shame. Now these aren't the "God Hates Fags" type, these are the "Love the Sinner Hate the Sin" type. Essentially the message is the same, though their styles are different.

Now my Sisters and I have no interest in particularly confronting these people. They have a legal right to be there whether the neighborhood likes it or not. We would just like to overshadow their presence with a greater presence of Love and Joy on Friday nights and we'd like to get the community at large involved with this too.

I am wondering if Bunnies might be interested in spending a Friday evening with us at 18th and Castro, expressing love to passerby and perhaps collecting change for the AIDS Emergency Fund and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. Around 11/11:30 we could move on to the bars for some Bunny Bar Ministry.

Would anybunny be interested in doing this Friday Aug 4th?

So, I went to my first Bunny Jam on Saturday and although i had fun I woke up with my ears ringing and my need for a bit of dancing left unfullfilled. Let me just say that the sound and mixing was not music to my sensitive bunny ears. There are so many amazing dj's out there that would love the opportunity to spin their music at a Bunny Jam FOR FREE..... Im sure that I'm hitting a sore spot for all you die hard bunny fans but I'm also sure I wasnt the only one that was hoping for a bit more quality mixing and sound. I'd love to do it again but I think I'll be passing these Bunny mixers up until the sound matches the quality of bunny's.

Its coming!! The Greenest day of the year!!

In honor of this holiday we all need to spread some green cheer :)

The bar locations are undisclosed at this point but I know that the end will be at Mighty (www.mighty119.com). Mighty is a $5 cover and its awesome on Friday's.

Start time will be 9:00pm sharp(ish) - in order to hit up all the fun we must remain on schedule (well kinda, well as best as a bunch of drunk Leprechauns can)

Costumes are a must!!
And please bring whoever you want!
